This thing called "Attention Deficit Disorder"
ADHD or Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder, is a neurological condition, often times creating challenges for individuals beyond lack of focus — challenges such as lack of organization, time management, decision making and emotional regulation. It is estimated that only 4% of adults are diagnosed with ADHD, while almost 11% of children have this diagnosis. It is also believed that this is not something you “outgrow” and that while we can adapt and adjust to life with this brain type, no matter how successfully one does so, we do not outgrow it. While there is no “cure” for ADHD, with proper treatment and support, many of the symptoms and challenges can be managed. There are a number of treatment options which have been found effective, including coaching and a practice of mindfulness.
I believe that a diagnosis is helpful, and often necessary for the purposes of treatment. The reality is, only a very small number of adults actually seek and receive a diagnosis. Does it matter? I say, let’s talk about what your challenges are, and let’s find a way to get through them, so that you can reach your goals.
How can coaching help?
As a Certified ADHD Coach, I have extensive knowledge & understanding of ADHD, its traits and symptoms. While a diagnosis might not be necessary, working with someone who absolutely understands this very active (often “hyperactive’) brain type, is crucial. Otherwise, you’ll hear things like “Well, just do it” to which I say, “If only!” I understand that the challenges often go beyond lack of focus and organization, but impact self-esteem and self-confidence, leaving the individual with feelings of frustration and helplessness. As a Certified ADHD Coach, I’m also aware of the many gifts and unique talents associated with this brain type. The same brain that can focus so well on things that excite it, whether it be creating or problem solving or any of the fun, stimulating things it enjoys, can also focus — to the point of rumination — on the negative, keeping you “stuck,” preventing forward movement, and keeping you up all night! In my coaching, I use a strengths-based approach and a mindfulness practice, educating and empowering my clients to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. And most importantly, to stop the self-ass kicking and start embracing the gift that you are to this world!
Are you ready to take the leap toward positive change, and start taking care of yourself? Change starts with one simple step — call me and let’s talk!
“Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on this earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.” – Parker J. Palmer

Thank you so much for helping me get through the school year. Looking back at it, compared to the year before, it was amazing. I really don't have words strong enough to express my gratitude.
Jo has a true gift for bringing out the best in people, a really keen insight of what capabilities an individual might possess.
I met Jo 8 years ago and she became such a big part of my life! What a great person and friend, always was there for me! She's been my Life Coach for the past 8 years (even before she was certified) and will continue to be my coach for years to come! This is her true calling!
With Jo's coaching, I was finally able to break through the mental clutter and design a practical Big Block type schedule that allowed my natural tendency toward a low structure lifestyle fit with my need for some structure in order to accomplish what needed to be done. I've stuck with the plan for several months now, avoiding over commitment and really enjoying my valued "Me" time without guilt. Thanks Jo!
